A BSP delegation met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and demanded adequate security at all museums, parks and memorials set up in the state after various Dalit icons. "A party delegation on Monday met the Chief Minister demanding stern action against all those responsible for vandalising the statue of party president Mayawati and proper security at all memorials set up by the previous government in the honour of Dalit icons", leader of opposition Swami Prasad Maurya, who led the delegation told media. He said the Chief Minister assured them of effective action in this regard. The BSP leader added that the promptness with which the government acted and installed a new statue after some unruly elements vandalised it here last week shows that it (government) has taken the matter seriously.
