A yearlong programme has been planned to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Mysore City Corporation (MCC), which was constituted as a municipal committee in 1862. The formal launch of the programme has been tentatively fixed for August 27.
A preliminary meeting in this regard with MLAs, former Mayors, councillors and officials was presided over by Mysore district in-charge Minister S.A. Ramdas.
Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar will be invited to launch the programme. Yearlong celebrations could mean that one programme could be organised each month. Earlier, Mr. Ramdas stated that the President would be requested to launch the programme.
Deputy Commissioner P.S. Vastrad will be in charge of the preparations and will be supported by MCC Commissioner M.R. Ravi. Narasimharaja MLA, Tanveer Sait, suggested to Mayor M.C. Rajeshwari that steps be taken to clean up all 65 wards in the city before the programme.
