Rohit joined the elite club of Indian captains to win a bilateral ODI series in England. He has become the only third Indian captain after MS Dhoni (2014) and Mohammad Azharuddin (1990) to achieve the feat.

India defeated England by five wickets in the ODI series decider at Old Trafford in Manchester on July 17. Hardik Pandya took a four-wicket haul to help India bundle out England for 259 inside 46 overs.

In reply, Pandya and Rishabh Pant stitched a 133-run partnership for the fifth wicket after an early top-order collapse. Pandya fell for 71, but Pant went on to take India home with his unbeaten 125.

On the back of his heroics, Pandya joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and K Srikkanth in an elite ODI list as he became the fifth Indian to score a fifty-plus score and take four wickets.

Pandya also became the first Indian to achieve the feat outside the Indian subcontinent. Meanwhile, Pant became the fourth Indian wicket-keeper to score an ODI century after MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid and KL Rahul.

Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have been rested for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies. They will join the Indian squad for the five-match T20I series later this month. In the absence of Rohit, Shikhar Dhawan will lead India in ODIs before Rohit returns to lead the Men in Blue in T20Is.
